Hidden Talent of the Day: Taisia Sidorova’s art teacher admits she never would have given the 21-year-old’s skills a second glance, but now she says Taisia “has a natural talent for art” — and all it took was losing the left side of her brain.
The left hemisphere of Taisia’s brain was removed after it sustained irreparable damage in a car crash. Her doctors gave Taisia’s family very little hope for survival, let alone any real recovery, but they would not give up.
It took two years, but eventually, little by little, Taisia began to come around, even taking up sketching — something she had no interest in prior to the accident. “And she was really good too,” her mother Irina is quoted as saying. “We bought her some paints as well and is now top of the class for her creations.”
“The human brain is a remarkable thing,” said one of Taisia’s doctors. “The human brain is a remarkable thing – in her case the part that remains seems to have developed to compensate for the missing part – and at the same time given her a previously undiscovered talent for art.”

A Guatemala City woman says she was startled by the sound of a large explosion she thought occurred in another house nearby, only to find a monster-size sinkhole underneath her own bed.
“When we heard the loud boom we thought a gas canister from a neighboring home had exploded, or there had been a crash on the street,” Inocenta Hernandez told AFP. “We rushed out to look and saw nothing. A gentleman told me that the noise came from my house, and we searched until we found it under my bed.”
While a 40-foot-deep sinkhole in your house is nothing to sneeze at, it’s a black spot on a ladybug when compared with last year’s 60-footer that swallowed a factory whole.

Gay porn star Cameron Adams, who plays “Himmione Grainghim” in the Harry Potter porn parody Whorrey Potter and the Sorcerer’s Balls, happened upon his non-gay-porn counterpart Emma Watson at last month’s MTV Movie Awards.
Apparently, when he told her about his latest film role it made her night.
250 Dairy Farms Close in California
Dairy farms all across California are closing down as milk production quickly becomes less profitable.
As of 2008, California was home to 1,905 dairy farms, 1.8 million dairy cows, and produced about 5 billion gallons of milk every year. In 2011, the sagging economy and the increasing cost of everything is about to put a major damper on all that.
The cost of operating a dairy in California has practically doubled in the last three years while the price of milk has barely risen.Across the state, over 250 independent dairies have closed down in the last three years. A huge factor in many of the closures is the price of hay. Hay that just recently cost $125 to $150 a barrel now runs $250 to $300 a barrel. Feed prices are over double what they were but retail milk prices only rose 5 to 6 percent. Dairy producers are struggling to turn a profit.
Dairy products are California’s 6th most profitable export commodity but almonds and rice hold the number #1 and #2 spots. Heck, California already produces 75% of the world’s almond supply they should ditch the dairy scheme and become world leader in the almond and rice milk business instead.
